Be encouraged to seek the Lord’s healing. Then pray for someone to speak to and open your heart without reserve.

Pete had been bottling up his anxieties for some time. He’d suffered an emotional breakdown and, though he’d moved on from the situation, he’d never really talked about it. Pete found it very difficult to open up so he prayed for an opportunity to offload his concerns on someone who would be unbiased and understanding. That day arrived over a cup of coffee with a good friend. Pete emptied his heart. His friend listened. Somehow, Pete did not receive much advice from his friend but by simply talking his problems through he was relieved. The healing had begun.

Talk therapy is for anyone who’s going through a bad time or has emotional problems they need help with. For many adults, it may be the same as or more effective than medication. Talking can help an individual gain a better understanding of their emotions, identify roadblocks and obstacles and overcome anxieties and insecurities.
Luke 6:45
For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
God’s word exhorts us to confess our sins (or anxieties) to one another. The Holy Spirit is called our counsellor. He is the One who knows our thoughts and our anxieties. We are encouraged to cast our cares on him because he cares for us. Ultimately, when I talk with a friend, the Lord is in our company. Therefore, he hears my heart as I share my thoughts. And the Lord is the Healer.
So, if you can relate to Pete in our story today, be encouraged to seek the Lord’s healing. Then pray for someone to speak to and open your heart without reserve.
