Ask the Lord to fill you again with his zeal, then step back from your efforts and watch as the zeal of the Lord once again sets your heart ablaze.

It’s sad when Christians lose the zeal of first love. After having discovered new life in Christ it’s easy to fall back on old ways and grow cold. Jesus said to John on Patmos, “Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.” Sadly, many of us may start our Christian walks with flair but soon lose our zeal.
Isaiah 59:17
For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on His head; He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing and was clad with zeal as a cloak.
Maybe that spark has gone out of your relationship with the Lord. If that’s you, then stop trying to do it in your own strength. Be encouraged to allow him to fan into flame the gift of the Holy Spirit. Ask the Lord to fill you again with his zeal, then step back from your efforts and watch as the zeal of the Lord once again sets your heart ablaze.
