The Bible is your secret weapon. Use it to reach your God-given destiny!

The Bible is the Word of God. As we read it, the Scriptures come alive. The darkest of places are lit up and we can clearly see the path God has for us ahead. As Psalm 119 says, “The entrance of Your words gives light.” Unfortunately for many, even Christians, the Bible is a best-kept secret, as they are not aware that reading it can transform their lives. Don’t let the Bible be a secret in your life, let it be your secret weapon you use every day against your spiritual enemy.

As we read the Bible each morning, we receive spiritual insight for the day ahead. We embark on a journey with God that will take us a few steps closer towards our God-given destiny. The Bible is the best road map one could ask for as the Lord leads you into reaching your full potential in life. Yet, not every Christian knows this, That’s why it could be called a secret weapon!

Hopefully, in your case there is nothing secret about the Bible. Hopefully, you are fully aware of the benefits of meditating on God’s Word daily and confessing the Scriptures over your life. However, for non-believers and even some Christians, it can be the best-kept secret. This is because the enemy does not want you or I reading it. He knows all too well the power it has to transform our lives.

As believers we are called to put on the whole armour of God. (Ephesians 6:10-18). Much of this armour is defensive or protective, but the Sword of the Spirit is not. It is what we use to attack. Not people but spiritual forces at work that we cannot see. It is what gives us the truths we need to come against the enemy’s lies.

As Hebrews 4:12 says: “For the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

As we read God’s Word we discover who we are in Christ which gives us a new found confidence to live for Him and reach out boldly to others with the Good News of the Gospel. It completely changes our thinking as our minds are transformed. Just think, if we keep putting the same rubbish into our minds we will have the same rubbish results.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2)

As we read the Bible we find God’s direction in life in two distinct ways. We learn how to live for Him in general terms as others have done throughout the centuries. This is called the “logos” or written word and encompasses all his commandments. However, reading the Bible also positions us to receive a “rhema” or personal spoken word from God. This is His revealed will for us in a specific situation in our lives today.

It’s amazing how encouraging it is to receive a direct, rhema word from God. It’s like a gift from Heaven confirming which action to take. Such wisdom is priceless. Walking with God is a journey of faith, as He reveals the steps He wants us to take, one at a time. The Bible sure is “a lamp to our feet and a light to our path”. (Psalm 119:105) Reading God’s Word is what keeps us on track in life!

No matter what challenge you face today, God has the answer. It is written in His Word. Find the scripture in the Bible that pertains to your situation and declare it over your life. For example if you are anxious, speak His “peace that passes all understanding” over your circumstances.

You may be in need of something else, food, clothing, accommodation, a life partner, etc. Whatever it is, commit it to the Lord, reminding Him of the promises He has given to you in the Bible. God honours His Word and He will come through for you. Don’t let the Bible be a best-kept secret in your life, one moment longer. Let it be your secret weapon, but don’t keep it a secret – shout it from the rooftops!
