“How God was in Bible times he is today. What God did in Bible times he does today.”
My parents had a shrub in their garden when I grew up in South Africa called, the yesterday, today and tomorrow, or Brunsfelsia. In the growing season, it would flourish with fragrant flowers. The buds would open revealing a clean white bloom. On returning the next day you would notice that the bloom had developed a pale mauve centre. The following day that bloom would have turned completely mauve. It takes three days for one bloom to turn from white to mauve. The beauty of the Brunsfelsia is, it becomes covered in blossoms at each stage of transformation. Therefore, on one plant you would find dazingly white flowers, pale mauve flowers and deep mauve flowers. Hence its common name, yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Listen to God’s Word: “I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty,” (emphasis is mine). Just as on one yesterday, today and tomorrow shrub we simultaneously find three blooms in their three stages of development, so the Lord our God, whose name is El Olam – the Everlasting God – is and was and is to come, simultaneously. Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever and his love never changes.
Psalm 136:1
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever
How God was in Bible times he is today. What God did in Bible times he does today. In the Bible we read that he renewed the strength of those who waited on him. He healed the broken-hearted, proclaiming liberty to the captives, and opening prison doors to those who are bound. God consoled those who mourned, giving them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning and the garment of praise for a low mood. Moreover, he healed the sick and provided the needs of the destitute. As he was then, so he is today. God is consistent. God is faithful. He is always the same and his love is never-ending.
Your eternal God never changes. The God who loves you was and is and will be your redeemer, healer, miracle worker, shepherd, provider, judge, encourager, peace, joy, strength and Abba Father. He is your yesterday, today and tomorrow. Furthermore, he is today already in your tomorrow. So, fix your eyes on Jesus, scorn the lies of Satan and see yourself saved, delivered and healed.
God-tracking is facing every day in God’s enduring love.
