Coming to terms with being a porn addict isn’t easy but there is hope for a full recovery. One can extinguish this inferno.

It’s hard to overcome being a porn addict, yet so many Christians are struggling that it’s time to stop being embarrassed about this wildfire that is clearly out of control. We know pornography is not something that is easily talked about, especially amongst believers. Yet this type of addiction affects many Christians and even those who are in church leadership.

Ever since the Internet made pornography so easily accessible, porn has set off countless wildfires. In some cases one can imagine that all that remains is black, scorched earth with little sign of life. Does this sound dramatic? Sure it does, yet the statistics surrounding porn addiction are staggering. A quick online search reveals that porn addiction is an ongoing crisis. Some even refer to it as a ‘Porndemic’.

  • In America, “40 million people visit porn sites and 35% of downloads are related to pornography,” to quote just one set of statistics. One can only imagine what the figures are for the UK, or whichever country you are from.
  • Furthermore, so many porn addicts are Christians. In a survey conducted by, The Huffington Post “50% of religious men and men and 20% of religious women stated that they were addicted to pornography.” Plus, while 26% of regular Church attendees were 26% less likely to look at pornography 91% of people who identified themselves a ‘fundamentalists’ were 91% more likely to look at porn.

These stats reveal a massive fire hazard and we all know what happens when we play with fire. Nobody wants to be a statistic or get their fingers burnt, so does porn addiction have you in flames? CV Global have produced a thought-provoking video which you can watch below. It will really encourage any porn addict.

Hope for every porn addict

Using fire as a metaphor, this video from CV Global shows the benefits of using fire safely, while warning of the dangers of its misuse. We know that God created sex as a beautiful gift for the enjoyment of married couples as well as the gift of children. Sadly however, sex has become an addiction for many, many people. And, sex and porn addiction causes devastation in relationships, marriages and homes. It brings with it an insatiable lust for more that is extremely difficult to quench.

“Do you feel like porn consumes you? Is it hard to stop thinking about?” CV Global asks… “Like fire, the influence of pornography can be destructive. With lust comes a craving that never fully satisfies. God created sex to be a gift of intimacy within marriage, for us to enjoy, to be blessed by it and have children. But porn can cause damage and break trust in our relationships. Jesus Christ can help us overcome our temptations and set us free, so that we can love each other the way He designed.”
