“It is vital for us as followers of Christ, attempting to build our lives to please him and walk in his will, to fill our hearts and minds with his word. It is likewise vital for us as followers of Christ to seek the fellowship of the Holy Spirit in everyday life, as he activates that word.”
Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
I remember the first time I read a scripture that jumped out at me. It was my final year at school and I didn’t know where life would take me. I had plans but was uncertain that they would work out. I was worried – anxious about the future. One night, while I was having my quiet time before the Lord, I had the Bible open in Philippians. I was reading through the epistle at the time, one chapter per night. That night was chapter 4. After a short prayer I began reading.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Like a neon sign the words, be anxious for nothing, leapt out at me.
God’s word does not stand alone, it works with the Holy Spirit. In fact, the word and the Spirit are synonymous. We read that the sword of the Spirit, is the word of God. The word of God confirms the actions of the Holy Spirit while the Holy Spirit activates the word of God. That night the living and intimate Holy Spirit personally activated those four words in my life, with power.
It is vital for us as followers of Jesus, attempting to build our lives to please him and walk in his will, to fill our hearts and minds with his word. It is likewise vital for us as followers of Jesus to seek the fellowship of the Holy Spirit in everyday life, as he activates that word

I give my life to you and Help me to fill my heart and mind with your word and, Holy Spirit, please guide me to those words in the Bible that will guide my life
“Father God, thank you so much that Jesus came to open the way for me to enter intimate fellowship with your Holy Spirit. And thank you, Father God, for inspiring the writing of the Holy Bible. I believe your Spirit and your word work together to lead me according to the plans you know you have for me. Help me to fill my heart and mind with your word and, Holy Spirit, please guide me to those words in the Bible that will guide my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
