When circumstances are stacked against you, he will pull you through. Just trust the hand of the Lord your God despite the circumstance.
Jonathan and his young armour bearer climbed the rise to face the Philistine camp. He had felt the prompting of God to take on the whole army – two against hundreds – saying, “For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few.” The circumstances were stacked against Jonathan and his armour bearer. In the natural, the chances of him coming out alive were slim. Yet, Jonathan trusted the hand of the Lord his God despite the circumstance.

Some years back my lovely wife Karen had a well-paid managerial job. I was pastoring a church at the time and, though remunerated, I did not earn as much as Karen did. Then the unthinkable happened. Karen’s work circumstances and conditions changed so radically that she was forced to resign. Now, even though our income was sufficient while Karen was employed, we still couldn’t seem to make ends meet. Therefore, unfortunately, and wrongly so, Karen and I landed in an overdraft with our bank. These were the circumstances we were under at the time of her resignation. When Karen resigned, we lost 2 thirds of our income. How ever were we going to survive? Yet, we knew God was in this circumstance with us.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13
Jonathan and his armour bearer defeated the entire Philistine army, by the might of the God they trusted. Their circumstances were weighed in favour of defeat yet God delivered them. Karen and I not only survived our looming financial crisis, during the six months that she was unemployed and our income vastly reduced we actually eliminated our bank overdraft. To this day I cannot explain how that happened. Our circumstances were weighed in favour of ruin yet God delivered us. We trusted the hand of the Lord our God despite the circumstance.
What adverse circumstance do you face today? Are you facing an overwhelming enemy? Are you facing financial ruin, marital hardship or personal loss? Come to Jesus now. Cast your cares on him because he cares for you. The apostle Paul knew what it was like to be abased. He knew how to be both full and to be hungry, to abound and to suffer need. Yet he said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” When circumstances are stacked against you, he will pull you through. Just trust the hand of the Lord your God despite the circumstance.
